Dorper, Pinotage 2022

Former Delheim winemaker, Reg Holder, struck out on his own in 2017 and, in collaboration with viticulturist Etienne Terblanche, created Dorper. Calling Stellenbosch home they bring modern, sensitive winemaking with Burgundian notions of terroir to South Africa’s native varieties. Pinotage 2022 has garnered a real cult following, treading the line between traditional structured styles and ‘new wave’ lighter examples with real elan. The nose delivers a really pretty perfume - raspberry and cherry with a light floral note. The palate is juicy and fresh with notes of bakewell tart and violets. A great pair with roasted herby/meaty dishes.
